STCW 95 with 2010 manila amendments (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping). STCW means ‘standards of training, certification, and watchkeeping’. The STCW Basic Safety Training course (STCW95; STCW 2010) is the legal minimum requirement for anyone looking for commercial work aboard vessels over 24 metres, in accordance with the STCW Code A-VI/1.
As well as the four core modules, we have now included the Proficiency in Security Awareness module as part of our STCW Basic Safety Training course, at no additional cost to you. This course includes all five modules, but they can also be booked separately for increased flexibility. Our week long STCW Basic Safety Training package will provide students with the practical skills and knowledge to be certificated for the five mandatory modules of training as laid out in the STCW code. Certified by IMO white flag state Marshall Islands.
1. Personal Survival Techniques – (STCW A-VI/1-1)
You will be taught what you can do to ensure your survival in the event that you have to abandon ship at sea and what preparations you should make.
The course covers both a theory and practical elements, which includes a two-hour pool drill using a life raft, immersion suit, life jacket and other survival equipment. €350 if booked individually
2. Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting – Fire causes, prevention, and how to extinguish a fire (STCW A-VI/1-2)
This training is required for new entrants and ships personnel re-validating certificates when joining their ships. This course is accredited by the Marshall islands and provides part of the statutory basic training requirements for seafarers. Maritime establishments are well aware of the implications of possible fires aboard ship, particularly at sea when assistance is rarely possible. Having well trained and competent crew to deal with fire situations is therefore invaluable.
This course will provide all the basics, from fire prevention and firefighting skills to the causes of fires aboard ship, and how to deal with them both safely and efficiently. €700 if booked individually
3. Elementary First Aid – Basic First Aid Training & Resuscitation (STCW A-V1/1-3)
The course covers what to do should you encounter any medical emergencies onboard.
This course is a combination of theory and practical training. Students will learn bandaging methods and how to move and position a patient, and also how to improvise with various materials to assist with this. €250 if booked individually
4. Personal Safety & Social Responsibility – Safety procedures and accident prevention as well as basic understanding of employment and on board working conditions (STCW A-V1/1-4)
PSSR course covers the syllabus required by the STCW95 Table AVI/1-4 this is not a yacht restricted certificate. This element of the course is designed to give students knowledge of safety practices, pollution prevention responsibilities, life and culture on board a vessel. €190 if booked individually
5. Proficiency in Security Awareness – Importance of ships security and how to recognise security threats (STCW A-VI/6-1)
This course is required by all seafarers who are employed or engaged in any capacity on ships required to comply with the IPS code but who will not have any designated security duties. It provides students with sufficient knowledge, understanding and proficiency to be aware of the importance of ship security and roles of those involved in its provision, be aware of the requirements and measures to maintain ship security and be able to recognise and report a security threat. €190 if booked individually
