The YM Ocean is a 5 day course which you receive an RYA completion certification, this is not the finished certificate as to gain a full YM Ocean you need to sit an Oral exam which you need to prove your qualifying passage i.e 600 miles and your sights. Your sights do not have to be taken on the 600 mile passage and can be taken after the 5 day course but would need to be produced to the oral examiner. The Yachtmaster Ocean i is needed for any further MCA tickets if you wish to be unlimited for instance OOW.
