This course is approved by the Marshal islands according to the MNTB (Merchant Navy Training Board) standard for Proficiency for Ship Security Officers. In compliance with the STCW A-VI/5 IMO requirements, the course has been designed to provide the background knowledge and skills required to implement ISPS code requirements. The practical exercises are designed to ensure candidates put the learnt skills into practice.
THE OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSES ARE TO GIVE DELEGATES KNOWLEDGE OF:
∙ The importance of ship security & the roles & responsibilities of organisations & individuals involved in it.
∙ How to assess security risk, threat & vulnerability to the ship, its personnel, cargo and operations.
∙ The learner understands the capabilities and limitations of security methods, equipment & systems.
∙ How to implement a ship security plan & related regulatory requirements.
∙ How to determine the effectiveness of current security arrangements, procedures & equipment.
A hands-on practical training approach is taken to deliver this course in which lectures, videos, group discussions, and practical scenario based exercises combined with active delegate participation forms a compulsory part of training and assessment.
