RYA Yachtmaster Offshore Preparation/Practical
Yachtmaster Course Information
This course is usually taken after the student has completed their Yachtmaster Offshore Theory; this is typically a four day course in preparation for the Yachtmaster Offshore Examination. During the four days the Instructor will cover:
•International Regulations for Preventing Collisions At Sea
•Safety
•Boat Handling
•General Seamanship, including maintenance
•Responsibilities of Skipper
•Navigation
•Meteorology
•Signals
Throughout exam, the examiner will be inspecting the student in a captain's role, checking navigation skills, practical boat handling ability, international regulations and ability to organize your crew under different conditions that may be encountered, this includes day navigation as well as night.
The RYA Yacht Master Offshore Prep course is fashionable for the recreational motor boat user and for the aspiring captains and crew within the yachting industry.

Yachtmaster Course Requirements
Duration: 4 days prep
To take the Practical examination, candidates must be ages 18 or over and require:
•VHF SRC
•Valid first aid certificate
•50 days at sea
•2,500 sea miles including at least 5 passages over 60 miles acting as skipper for at least 2 of these passages and including 2 of which have involved overnight passages
•5 days experience as skipper
*Half the qualifying sea time must have been conducted in tidal waters e.g. outside the Med
